Can You See the Landscape of Your Soul?

^^^^
can you see the mountain tops?
the peaks and ridges of distant sight
where we hid in plain view
and find clarity in height

(those are hills)
can you see the hills?
where the sun sets gracefully
where the stars in glory shine
and give knowledge to the soul

can you see the desert?
the waste land of vitality
where growth is so hard

For The Love Of... Road Trips!

Since both Sonic and I, Master Yoda, are out of town on road trips, I figured something ought to said for the joys of road trips.

Specifically...

1. New cars! And that new car smell....
2. Traffic! And going 20 miles in 2 hrs! However, we did get to see sone awesome license plates. Our favorite so far was: USE SOAP
3. Trying to buy food with allergies in the South... "It's fine hunny, it's just fried"
Actually... No, that isn't fine...
4. Men.
5. Seeing friends! :)

I hope everyone is having a good summer! Enjoy your Road Trips!

A Next Generation Batmobile

It has finally come folks! I, Sonic, have gotten my first car! It is a brand spanking new metallic gray 2011 Toyota Corolla. (Look out Batman there's a new ultimate crime fighting mobile in town.)

It is quite the beaut, in my (totally unbiased) opinion. Road trip plans are already set to visit Our Beloved Ewok Friend and others this weekend. The wise Master Yoda will be my next victim!

I'm still in the process of naming this totally rad machine.

Food Shopping with the "Oh, I Can't Eat THAT" Brigade

I gave this post that title for a reason.
You will understand by the end of the tale.
If you don't, I can't help you.

Food is a big deal in my family.
Partly because the Homeless Man is picky,
Partly because of Celiac Disease,
and partly because of my own current dairy-free, soy-free diet.
But we all love banana bread
(I mean, who actually eats these outside of delicious banana creations??)

However, banana bread requires this little thing called butter.
You've probably heard of it.
Its infamous really.
(If you haven't heard of butter... I don't even know what to say, but look it up.)

So I've been looking around for dairy-free, soy-free, gluten-free butter alternative.
Such a thing is actually made
By Earth Balance it seems.
However, even the Wegmans near me doesn't carry that variety of Earth Balance.

And so I got what seems to be
the best
the safest
and the most like-butter consistency alternative

Lard.

And thats all that can be said about that.

College Visits and Tours... Didn't I just graduate???

Yesterday The Green Lantern and I went on some college visits and tours in Washington D.C.. We also met up with Latro and some Wyomingites for delicious Chipotle.

Honestly it was kind of funny looking at colleges after just having graduated from such an institution. At first I kept comparing the schools to my alma mater, however, I did realize that my brother is looking for different things than I ever was. Most definitely I never even considered looking at a school at which I might get heat rash like I did yesterday.

All in all it was a good trip, despite The Green Lantern's confusion on what he wanted and did not want to do or see which lead to us wandering about the Mall unnecessarily for an hour in the heat and sun (did I mention the heat rash?)
Heat rashes tend to develop on the legs more often than on other areas of the body.

I love summer.
I think we might go to Boston next...

BREAKING NEWS!! (or at least it was (or might have been) at some point)

CITIZENS! I write to you today in light of the recent string of sunny days that have befallen us. Here, for the first time in print (or any other media), are some sun-related notes I have dug up from my adventures in.... THE INTERNET!

After suspicious questions raised from our own Master Yoda on the appearance of redness of the skin in the presence of a sunburn, I met with one of my associates, Mr. Google. He explained that this was the work of the disease-fighting Immune System using one of its most powerful weapons, Blood Vessels.

Immune System swells Blood Vessels in the area of any cut, bruise, or burn, allowing for the small but mighty champions of anti-pathogen justice, the Bloods Cells, to swarm to that area in hopes of healing those innocent Skin Cells that were harmed or injured and to remove the Cells' fallen comrades that, unfortunately, did not survive.

Therefore! in order to prevent such a travesty, I am happy to provide a few Sun Safety Tips from my most trusted news source, The Onion. I have selected those which I feel are most important:
  1. Always sit at least 100 yards from the Sun.
  2. Instead of using our sun, sunbathe using a safer, more distant star, like Beta-Sirius.
  3. Stabbings, while tanning or not, are very dangerous - Avoid them!
  4. For those raised in a red-sun environment, yellow-sun may cause superpowers - Use only for good.
  5. Avoid suntanning on inner planets like Mercury and Venus.
Good luck! And remember, only YOU can prevent your entire body bursting into flames.

Summer!!! well, not quite, but June!

Im Juni liebe ich es einfach am Strand spazieren zu gehen.*
However, since I cannot go to the beach, I started my sun tanning process at work.
And no worries Grandma, my feet are already burned so that they will be tan.
¿Eres consciente de las consecuencias de tus actos?*
In fact, yes. I am well aware that sun burn can cause skin cancer.
Despite this, it is nice to be outside in the sun after so many long months of snow and snow and snow...
While it technically is not summer yet, it is June!
So Happy June First everyone
and remember if the customer thinks its summer already,
Il cliente ha sempre ragione.*
